PDP encouarges Buhari to be compassionate to everyone

 
National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday urged the President- elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, retd to see himself as a father of the nation who should live like late South Africa President, Nelson Mandela and forgive killers and arsonists.
Speaking with Journalists in Abuja, PDP deputy National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus who was responding to General Buhari’s comment when some stakeholders and traditional rulers from Rivers state visited him Wednesday, said that as the President- elect, he should comment as a father on issues that may be brought before him, rather than take sides especially on issues awaiting adjudication and before a panel of inquiry or the judiciary.

ABUJA — Visiting former British Prime Minister, Mr. Tony Blair, yesterday assured President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) of the support of the major democracies of the world, especially Britain to enable him succeed. Blair gave the assurance during his congratulatory visit to Buhari in Abuja.

Buhari Plans Special Courts For Corruption

 

Special courts to prosecute sundry tax evasion cases and official graft are to be set up by President- elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), it was gathered yesterday.

The courts, which will be in the Federal Capital Territory, would deal strictly with corruption and tax evasion offences by companies, individuals and government officials.

Jonathan, Lawmakers’ battle hots up: NASS to override veto on constitution review


LAGOS—The National Assembly is set to override President Goodluck Jonathan’s veto of the Fourth Constitution Alteration Act earlier passed by the two chambers of the National Assembly.

The move by the National Assembly is despite the Supreme Court ruling last Thursday, asking the Assembly to stay action on the amendments pending further hearing on the suit filed by The Presidency to stop the legislature from further action on the alteration of the constitution.

A picture of former military ruler, Gen Sani Abacha with former Palestine leader, Yasser Arafat taken on Sunday, June 7, 1998, a day before he died on June 8, 1998 has gone viral. Abacha died while at the presidential villa in Abuja. He was buried on the same day, according
to Muslim tradition, without an autopsy.

This led to speculation that he may have been executed extra judicially by way of being poisoned by political rivals via prostitutes.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said the incoming Buhari Administration will not persecute anyone, contrary to statements credited to President Goodluck Jonathan. In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said, however, that those who have played poker with the nation’s destiny must be willing and eager to clear their conscience before man and God.
"That the President-elect is a man of integrity is not an issue for debate, and he has made it clear that he will not be bogged down by endless probes.

Ifeanyi Ubah Escapes Assassination, One Aide Killed

The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Transformation Am­bassadors of Nigeria (TAN), Ifeanyi Ubah, has es­caped suspected assassins by the whiskers.

It was gathered that the owner of Capital Oil Lim­ited, was to inspect a landed property after Apo mechanic village, a densely populated area in Abuja, but asked two of his TAN directors to go at the last minute.

When they arrived the site, gunmen, who were already waiting opened fire, killing one person simply identified as Mbanefo, and abducting another man simply identified as Barrister Chuma.

Buhari Congratulates David Cameron Over Election Victory

The President-elect Muhammadu Buhari, has sent a goodwill message to British Prime Minister, David Cameron, congratulating him on his victory in the just-concluded British elections. 

This is contained in a statement released in Abuja on Saturday by Malam Garba Shehu, Director, Media and Publicity of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Organisation.

I Expect Buhari To Persecute myself and my Ministers, Aides - President Jonathan

 

President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday gave an insight into the fate that awaits him under the incoming government of the President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), saying he and ministers as well as other aides who served under him would be persecuted.

He said he and his ministers would have hard times because of some critical decisions they took while in office.

 Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the resignation of British Labour Party leader, Ed Miliband and Liberal Democrats leader, Nick Clegg over their parties woeful performance in the last Thursday general election as a vindication of his call for the resignation of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu'azu.
The governor, who said in a release issued by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, that he had no personal score to settle with the PDP National Chairman, added that; "It is morally wrong for the National Chairman to remain in office after leading the party into its first national electoral loss."

Jonathan Meets Buhari in Secret Again

 
Goodluck Jonathan has again met behind closed doors with the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari. The meeting was held inside the President’s office at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

It is the third time he would be meeting Buhari after INEC declared him winner of the presidential poll. The meeting, which held at night, just like the first one they had on a public holiday (Good Friday), was described as “private” and so it was not open to journalists.
