The administration of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan administration can at best be described as underperforming, a review of its performance in various sectors show. This can be described as unfortunate for a government which came to power on the back of popular support and one that enjoyed a lot of public goodwill in its early years.

Below are the ways Jonathan failed us and in many cases, left Nigeria worse than he met it:

The spectacular one and only Jamaican-born singer, who is known for her eccentric costumes as much as her voice performed last night Sunday May 31st at Carriageworks in Sydney - her first of three concerts as part of the Vivid Sydney festival. The PDP youth leader of Ushongo LGA in Benue state, Prince Ternenge Gbuuga, was assassinated at his residence in Lessel, Ushongo Local Government Area of the state in the early hours of today June 1st. According to Benue.com.ng, unknown gunmen stormed his residence and shot him dead. They shared a photo of his corpse. See it after the cut... *it's graphic*.

A shocked passenger took this photo of an airport worker sticking tape onto the engine of an easyJet plane just moments before take off and shared it on Twitter on Friday May 29th. The twitter user @adtom posted it and wrote "Always worrying when easyJet are duct taping the plane together :-s #finaldestination"

More than 48 hours after he became the President, Buhari and his VP, Prof Yemi Osinbajo are yet to move into Aso Rock. The head of his media team, Garba Shehu, on Sunday has explained why and according to him, this is because Buhari's official residence was not ready for habitation.

Shehu, in an exclusive interview with Punch said workers were currently cleaning and refurbishing the President’s official residence. That Buhari would not move in until that exercise was completed.

Award-winning filmmaker, Daniel Ademinokan has in a new interview revealed that he is madly in love with actress Stella Damasus and wants her to stay with him forever. Nicki Minaj and boyfriend Meek Mills have been sending cryptic messages back and forth which makes it look like there may be trouble in paradise. Meek Mills recently had an interview where he denied being engaged to Nicki. Who knows if that caused a strain between them. We'll know with time.

Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari has strongly condemned the Saturday’s attacks on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital where no fewer than 11 persons were killed.

Buhari in a statement signed by Garba Shehu, the presidency media officer, extended his condolences to the families of the victims.

He affirmed that his administration “will not tolerate wanton and wilful destruction of life by criminal elements that are bent on anarchy.” Buhari further promised to use all available resources to curb terrorism on the Nigerian soil.

Police in Lagos have arrested a member of a suspected robbery gang that usually wore military camouflage while robbing unsuspecting private and commercial vehicles trapped in traffic around Mile 2, Festac, Alakija and its environs.

Police sources said it was discovered that the suspect was a dismissed soldier. He was said to have been dismissed from the Nigerian Army over unethical conduct.

World-renowned scientist and biologist Ameenah Gurib-Fakim is the new Mauritius President. She will be the first female president of the island, which gained independence from Britain in 1968 after parliament votes on her appointment today Monday June 1st with a swearing-in ceremony set to take place later in the day, officials said.

A Syrian Christian fighter has beheaded an Islamic State group (IS) militant to avenge people "executed" by the jihadists in northeastern Syria, a monitor said on Friday.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the incident took place on Thursday in Hasakeh province, where IS holds large areas of the countryside.

Abuja – President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the first set of appointments into his administration.

The President on Sunday evening, named Mr Femi Adesina and Mal. Garba Shehu as his spokesmen. Femi Adesina will serve as Special Adviser (Media and Publicity) while Garba Shehu will be the new Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity).

Aides of President Muhammadu Buhari, yesterday, explained why the president did not declare his assets publicly. They said he will make his assets known to Nigerians within the first 100 days of his stay in power in line with his assertions before the election.

Meanwhile, there were mixed reactions, yesterday, on the report that the president and Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo had submitted their assets declaration to the Code of Conduct Bureau without immediately making them public.

Secretary of State John Kerry broke his leg in bike crash near Scionzier in France on Sunday, apparently after hitting a curb. He then scrapped the rest of a four-nation trip that included an international conference on combating the Islamic State group.
State Department spokesman John Kirby said X-rays at a Swiss hospital confirmed that Kerry fractured his right femur.

Kerry’s wish to seek treatment at Massachusetts General Hospital was made because the fracture is near the site of his prior hip surgery, Kirby said.
Kerry, who on Saturday was in Geneva for six hours of meetings with Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as the sides work to seal a comprehensive accord by 30 June, was in stable condition and in good spirits, Kirby said.
