Former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku, finally dumps PDP

It's in order if we described Labaran Maku as Minister of Information as no one has been appointed to take over his position as substantive minister since he stepped aside to contest for the PDP guber ticket.

Anyway, he was disappointed and his ultimatum to PDP and the Presidency to intervene in Nasarawa State and possibly give him the ticket after loosing the governorship primaries has failed. Hence, he decided to dump the party that once made him a popular minister in Nigeria.

Consequently, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially unveiled Labaran Maku as its guber candidate in a ceremony held at the Manyi Royal Suites, Jos road, Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The state chairman of the party, Chief John Amakor, said the party gave him the ticket after due consideration of his vast wealth of experience and political clout having served in various positions as commissioner, deputy governor and minister of the federal republic since return to democracy in 1999.

Chief Amakor also took advantage of the occasion to clear the air on the raging controversy surrounding the candidature of Mr Maku, assuring that the national secretariat of APGA has certified him as the undisputed torch bearer of the party ahead of the February 28th guber election.

Giving reasons for his defection from the PDP, Maku alleged that there was a gang up against his candidature even as he accused party officials of conniving to threaten delegates, hide others and alter the delegates list to ensure he lose.

“They know more than anybody that when it comes to vision, leadership, capacity to express that vision and mobilize to get people moving, they know I have the capacity and that is why they are all jittery,” Maku boasted.
