Minna: Polling units witnessing poor turnout in Minna, especially in Dutsen kura- Gwari, Maitumbi Primary school, Bosso Local Government, Tundu Fulani polling units. Others are Bay clinic, uphill and Tundu wada south polling units. One of the voters, Alhaji Isah Mohammed, says the turnout is low. “We have done what we are surposed to do by voting against President Goodluck Jonathan for obvious change,” he says.

Port Harcourt – The House belonging to the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Rivers state, Mrs Joeba West was reportedly set ablaze in Buguma.
Vanguard gathered that INEC RAC Centre in Kalabari National College, KNC, Buguma was also set
on fire in the Fun in violence in the ongoing election in Rivers State.
A Police patrol vehicle was also burnt in Buguma.

Owerri: Party agents argued with polling officers over electoral materials at a polling unit in Ekeama-Awaka, Owerri North LGA. The agents insisted on being shown the full result sheets and other materials before accreditation started. The argument took place as a former PDP governorship
aspirant in Imo State, Chief Jerry Chukwueke, arrived the polling unit to be accredited.

Ibadan: At ward 11, unit 5, Eleyele, Ibadan, card reader fails to work while INEC officials are trying to return it to the office. Voters have stopped them, saying they should call for a new one instead of taking the faulty one away.

Some Twitter users were totally not impressed after this photo of Nollywood actor cum politician Desmond Elliot hit the web. It shows him surrounded by Nigerian policemen all looking at the cash
in his hands.
Nnamdi Anekwe took to his page to ask for some explanation and it turns out the photo was allegedly from yesterday and shows Desmond handing out lunch money to the security officers that escorted him. Tweets continue after the cut.

Osogbo: Gunmen, believed to be working for one of the two major political parties, early today took over the Town Hall Polling Zone in Ilase-Ijesa, Obokun LGA, to scare away prospective voters. Though a detachment of Police and other security agents came to the scene to restore order during which the thugs dispersed, the gunmen returned shortly after the law enforcement agents departed. Sporadic gunshots were heard shortly after this which forced many prospective voters scampering to safety.

Amaechi’s aide alleges policemen cart away voting materials
The Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Chief Tony Okocha, raised the alarm on Saturday morning that a group of policemen stormed the Olanada Registration Area Centre inObio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Okocha alleged that some of the original materials for the governorship and State House of Assembly elections have been taken away from the registration centre when the police stormed the place at about 3.30am on Saturday.
The original election materials, according to him, were replaced with cloned ones.

Jos: The card readers are also responding well. Deputy Director, Voter Education and Publicity, Mr. Osaretin Imahieyeorobo, attributes the early beginning of accreditation in Jos to the extra effort put in by the INEC to ensure that it corrects all the lapses discovered during the last election. He says most of the incompetent electoral officers have been replaced to ensure smooth conduct of the exercise.

WARRI- THE People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, differed , this morning, on the sacurity situation in the riverine communities of Warri, Delta State, for today’s Governorship and House of Assembly elections.
While a former PDP chieftain and chairman of the Delta Waterways Security Committee, DWSC, Warri, Delta State, Chief Ayirimi Emami, who defected to the APC, few days ago, said there was tension on the waterways, current PDP chairman in Warri South-West local government area and
deputy chairman of DWSC, Chief Boro Opudu, said there was no tension in the waterways of the state over the election, as claimed by Emami.
Chief Emami, also a former chairman of PDP in Warri South-West local government area, who spoke
to Vanguard on phone, said he was escorted by the army to the riverine community of Ugborodo, yesterday, following a siege to the waterways, yesterday, by some Ijaw boys at Kurutie area.
He said his step mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Emami, was harassed and other voters going home to participate in today’s exercise , detained and beaten up by unidentified Ijaw boys in broad daylight, yesterday.
But, Chief Opudu, said when contacted, that some people were trying to make mountain out of a molehill.
He said that Chief Emami called him to complain that his step mother was being harassed, adding that his investigation showed that the matter was not exactly the way it was painted.
According to him, Chief Emami called his new party and they reportedly mobilized the military to escort him to his community, “but that is not to say that there is tension in the creek, things are going on normally from information available to me.

Rivers Governorship Poll: 50 Heavily Armed Soldiers Deployed To Wike‘s Residence
Port Harcourt – About 50 heavily armed soldiers mounted heavy blockade around the family residence of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Barr Nyesom Wike as early as 6am today.
Vehicles were thoroughly searched before being allowed to drive through Wipey Junction, a very busy intersection close to the family residence.
At about 6:40 am the soldiers were seen emptying sand bags from one of their trucks.
Effort by Vanguard to take shots was rebuffed by one of the soldiers who appeared like the head of
the troop.
Pedestrians were seen raising their hands as they walked pass the soldiers who took strategic positions with their riffles

The Directorate of State Security operatives and police personnel have clashed at the Independent National Electoral Commission’s headquarters in Owerri, Imo State.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives candidate representing Apapa Constituency 1 Ayodeji Joseph has been stopped from leaving his home soldiers, PM News gathered.
Apapa Constituency 1 is base of Jimi Agbaje, the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate for today’s election.
A source close to Joseph said the soldiers who were led by a certain Lt. Col Momoh who was at the local government collation centre. “He has no business at the collation centre and we do not
understand what he was doing there because he is a serving military officer, the source said.
The source further claimed that Momoh distributed hand bands to soldiers under his jurisdiction.
Updates 9.55 am: An ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was arrested on Friday night in Sambo ward, Rijau local government area of Niger State, in possession of thumb printed two booklets of ballot papers.
The INEC staff, a supervising presiding officer, Ibrahim Tanko was arrested with the ballot papers in favour of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mohammed Gado Nasko.
A source in the town said the electoral officer after collecting all election materials went back to complain that there was a short fall in the ballot papers given to him.
Unknown to Tanko, some people had seen him hiding the two booklets in a car purportedly owned by a former minister in the state.
The suspect was immediately arrested and handed over to the Divisional Police Officer in the town.
Contacted on phone, the head of Voter Education Unit in the state INEC office, Malam Mohammed Wase, confirmed the incident, saying investigation to ascertain those involved in the incident was ongoing.
Updates 9.50 am: President-Elect, Buhari Accredited, Expresses Satisfaction
President Elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and his wife Aisha were accredited to vote at the Governorship and House of Assembly election at his Sarkin Yara A, in Kafar Baru ward 3 in Daura local government at about 8.30 am.
Buhari and his wife were accredited in less than five minutes and expressed satisfaction with the process adopted by the commission.
He told newsmen that the experience is an indication that INEC has improved on the card reader process considering the fast nature of the accreditation.
The Nation observed a lower voter turn-out compared to the turn during the Presidential election.
