At least 42 people were drowned in a boat mishap on River Niger close to Malilli Village in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State on September 27, 2013, Friday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 100 others on board were missing in the wreckage which occurred at about 2 p.m. Mr. Ibrahim Hussaini, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), confirmed the incident in a telephone interview on September 28, 2013, Saturday.

  The 2013 Miss World pageant held today Saturday September 28th at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center in Bali, Indonesia. Miss Philippines Megan Young (pictured left) beat 126 other contestants to win Miss World 2013. Four-time FIFA footballer of the year Lionel Messi and his father Jorge arrived in a Spanish court yesterday Friday September 27th to answer charges of alleged tax fraud. Messi and his father are being accused of hiding over £3.4 million by filing incomplete tax returns from 2006 to 2009.

The charges against father and son was lodged by a state prosecutor in June 2013 claiming that they tried to conceal earnings from Messi's image rights - charges they both deny.

Pretty Woman star Richard Gere's 11years old marriage to former Bond girl Carey Lowell has come to an end. According to Hollywood sources,  a friend of the couple confirmed the split though Gere and Lowell plan to do everything possible to keep things amicable, putting  their child together, 13-year-old son Homer Gere, first. Sources say their split was as a result of their lifestyle differences. Gere, a devout Buddhist, was said to enjoy his solitude, while Lowell, a former model and actress, enjoyed being more social.
They wedded in 2002 after dating for about seven years.
This would be Gere's second marriage split and Lowell's third marriage split.

Desperate Okada Man Trows Himself on an Oncoming Trailer Over Seizure Of His Bike

 Pandemonium broke out yesterday at Iyana Adeoyo, Ring Road area of Ibadan when an unidentified man in his thirties, attempted suicide by jumping in front of oncoming vehicle, after officers of the Oyo State commercial vehicle registration unit impounded his bike because his papers were fake.
According to eyewitnesses, the man kept on pleading, trying to explain to the officers that he didn't know his papers were fake. Unfortunately, his pleas fell on deaf ears.
