Previously we had reported that Hajia Aisha may have won the Taraba state governorship election due to the massive vote gotten by the APC candidate over her PDP counterpart. Reports reaching us this minute however indicates that INEC has declared the Saturday April 11th governorship election in
Taraba state inconclusive. The state Resident Electoral Officer, Mr
Ahmed Makamma said the election results from Donga Local Government Area
has been cancelled following high number of cancelled votes in the LGA.
He said a rerun election will be conducted in that
Local government..
He added that the PDP governorship
candidate, Mt Darius Ishiaku is leading with 53, 000 votes while the
only female governorship candidate in this election, Hajia Aisha
Alhassan of the APC is coming second in the race going by the results
collated so far.
"So that makes the election inconclusive, because if you look at the margin at the moment is 53, 000 and the number of cancelled votes is 127, 125, so there will be a runoff election to determine who the winner is”, he said.Meanwhile the state government has imposed a 7pm-6am curfew in all parts of the state following the post election violence that has engulfed the state. There has been fights in the state following accusations and counter accusations of election rigging.
